Oboist Diana Doherty is a commanding trailblazer, transporting audiences through time and space with her innate musical sensibility and internationally acclaimed artistry. Principal Oboe of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra since 1997, Doherty is in global demand as a soloist, performing with the New York, Liverpool and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestras, Ensemble Kanazawa in Japan, major Australian and New Zealand orchestras, festivals and more. A champion of new music, she has premiered works by notable Australian composers including Graeme Koehne, Ross Edwards and Carl Vine.
Bernadette Harvey is a solo pianist and master teacher whose performances and recordings have received outstanding praise throughout her varied career. A Senior Lecturer in Piano at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Harvey is a fellow champion of Australian composition and the recipient of the Centenary Medal for her contribution to Australian music.
In this concert, Diana unites with pianist Bernadette Harvey to perform an expansive program that traverses the balanced Baroque of Telemann to Berio’s thrilling Sequenza VII. Together they display a captivating mastery of chamber music, leaving audiences enlivened and energised.
