Diana Doherty is joined by Alexandre Oguey, Principal Cor Anglais of the SSO and Bernadette Harvey on piano to present a delightful classical program for piano, oboe and cor anglais by J.S.Bach, E. Morricone and J Brahms.
'What a privilege to have this opportunity to share with you music that is beautiful and meaningful to me, in such a beautiful and meaningful setting. As I reflect on what it is that music brings to our lives I see that in so many ways, UKARIA itself is the embodiment of those things – togetherness, curiosity, self-expression, exchange, reflection, imagination, emotion, understanding, learning, awareness, wonder, and the list goes on.
So I have tried to touch on all those things in this program, embracing a variety of styles and forms in the hope that together, audience and performers, we can create a special moment in time and place which sends us back out into the world buoyed, recharged and revitalised in our trust and belief in the essential beauty of the human spirit.'
– Diana Doherty, curator
The Recital Series is a relaxed, informal, and intimate performance with our guest soloists. Each one-hour concert is programmed by the featured musician to showcase their instrument, skill, and personal music preferences. Each recital experience includes an afternoon tea and an opportunity to meet and chat with the artists. You’ll be home before dark!
AFCM is thrilled to present the 26th annual festival, a week of chamber music with favorite returning artists and dynamic new artists who together with artistic director Peter Rejto will come together in a variety of ways over the course of five world-class concerts.

My audience will be irresistibly drawn into deep appreciation for these new works through the commentary of the composers and my demonstration.
The Fazioli concert grand on which I will play provides me with all the colour, the clarity of tone and robustness required of the music to bring them to life. It is truly a beautiful instrument.
A most exciting aspect of the first Sonata Project concert is the convergence of a variety of leading Australian creative minds. I have a most visionary and enterprising support team that is overseeing the concert’s development and ensuring its success. Together, we will recreate an atmosphere of joy and excitement for the future of music and live performance that people experienced in the salon concerts of the romantic-composer pianists of the past.
And finally, I have recorded all these works to a CD called Crossing Boundaries. It is produced by Tall Poppies and will be launched on the night! Thank you to Peter Rejto, my engineer and Belinda Webster, my producer.

Open rehearsals enable you to get behind the scenes. A youth concert brings chamber music to the community. Master classes enable the amateur and the curious to learn from the best. And a gala dinner and concert offers the opportunity to combine food and chamber music.
